Whats Happening
Round 5 review and Round 6 preview
The seniors travelled out to Brighton and it was a very tough game. We thought we had gone back to under 8′s when we saw Brighton lining up shaking the umpires hands before the game but someone forgot to tell us it was umpire appreciation round, No wonder Brighton got the majority of the free kicks during the game, well played Brighton.
It was goal for goal all game, Brighton lead at every change but the Sharks managed to get our noses in front at the end to win by 6 points. Well Done boys. The younger blokes played well with O.Dodge attacking each contest as if it was his last. R. Sutton kicked two crucial goals & M. Geappen provided heaps of run all day. R.Martin was our main goal scorer with 3.
The Reserves put in a hard fight all game, winning at most breaks to finally take win by 14 point. C.Edmonds and J.Syrett managed to keep the midfield strong with great plays thru out the game, B.Matthews also was among high performers of the day. L.Edwards moved up from the colts to fill in and proved he was able to play against the bigger bodies and really show that the U18 have a promising future with players like him.
A.Adams after retiring and not to play again put his boots on and played another game for the reserves and each week he proves he’s still got it.
The colts put in a very disappointing first half due to not being switched on from the start which told the story in their performance, but much to their credit bounced back and won the second half pretty convincingly playing footy to the level that is expected. To end up losing by only two goals is very lucky after being 40 odd points down at one stage; the boys will need to turn up switched on today with a meeting with local rival Sorell. The boys will be roaring to go after a hard week on the track following consecutive defeats. C.Britton played well in his first game of the season and ever reliable L.McLean played well too.
A.Meredith shone again and R.Millhouse with his superb boundary run and goal to finish the game with four. J. Grafton kicking 3 second half goals, J.Bowling, T.Mcknight, T.Sutto and K.Pearce all playing the best game for the year.
Thanks to all our supporters and volunteers who put in hard work week after week behind the scene.
Today is our first corporate day, we hope those sponsors enjoy their day.
Tonight we have our function, Tongue and Groove – $5 entry doors open at 7:30 pm
