Kingborough goes down to the East Coast Bombers - Round 5 review and Round 6 preview

The Vodafone Kingborough Tigers travelled to Triabunna to take on the in-form East Coast Bombers last Saturday. It was mentioned all week that our boys needed to be switched on and play 4 qtr footy if we were to take home the points. In freezing and windy conditions it was the Bombers that wanted the ball more and were more prepared to do the hard things including being switched on for the whole game. Well done to the Bombers on the win and I’m sure that our boys will be working hard this week to get back into the groove for this week’s important game against New Norfolk at the Twin Ovals.

The Reserves had a good win to maintain their undefeated position this year but a massive challenge looms this weekend when they meet fellow undefeated New Norfolk. Let’s hope the boys are up to the challenge in what will be a great game on the weekend starting at 12noon.

The Under 18s travelled to the Valley of Love to take on the Eagles in the revised Colts roster. Our boys played a great game on the big Boyer ground and it is great to watch their continued improvement from week to week. It will be another big challenge this week when we meet the Eagles again but at the Twin Ovals this weekend. It should be another high class game.

There will be a “Silly Shirt & Snitzell” night this weekend with orders being taken from about 6.45 pm on the night. If you would like to book early just give Rodney a call on 0418 130 193.

Tiger Bingo is roaring at the moment with all the focus being on the massive jackpot. Why not get a group together and come up on Tuesday night, eyes down at 7.30 sharp, and have crack at taking the big one home.

Vodafone Tigers win out over Huonville Lions – Round 3 review and Round 4 preview

In the battle of old Huon Competition rivals the Vodafone Kingborough Tigers came out on top in 2 out of the 3 games against the Huonville Lions at Huonville last weekend.

Rain greeted all but credit must go to the Huonville Club and the Council for the condition of the ground on the day.

The Under 18 game started badly for the young Tigers with the bigger bodied opposition more determined in the wet and slippery conditions allowing them to go into the first break with a handy lead. To the credit of our young guys, they rallied together after the first break to play the game that Coach Stewart Archer is working on. While they didn’t make inroads into the deficit they certainly stopped the run of the Lions and if not for extremely poor finishing in front of goal may have been a bit closer at the final siren. As it was last year, the development of these boys will be progressive and I urge you all to watch with interest as these boys improve over the course of the year.

The Reserves game started in a flurry but it didn’t take long for the Tigers to take control. By the half time break the game was well and truly in Kingborough’s hands. The boys went on to register a good win and now look forward to meeting Cygnet at the Twin Ovals this weekend.

The Senior game was always going to be a tough affair between age old rivals and with Jordan Lovell, Brendan Lorkin and Logan Bailey moving to Kingborough over the summer from the Lions adding some spice. Kingborough controlled the game from the outset and really never let the Lions get into the game. With a great second half, where the boys piled on 14 goals 2, the game ended with the margin being well and truly in the Tigers favour. They will now focus on the massive game against Cygnet this weekend at the Twin Ovals.

With a great weather forecast and a healthy rivalry between the 2 Clubs all who take the opportunity to attend should witness a great game. Get a crew together and get yourselves to the Twin Ovals on Saturday to watch some great games of SFL Football.

The Kingborough Tigers are looking forward to the challenges that season 2013 will bring. Pre-season training  has been solid and the Club is extremely pleased with the numbers that have been participating.

We would like to announce that Vodafone will continue partnering the Club for the 2013 seasons along with other major sponsors  Aircon Industries, Better Performance Car Care and 9/11 Bottleshops.

The Board of the Kingborough Tigers have been hard at work to put in place the many policies and processes s that are needed to make sure the Club runs well now, as well as in the future and we are very excited about the challenges that face the Tigers.

The Club is looking forward to presenting the Night Game against Lindisfarne on April 6th to open the 2013 season to our supporters and we are expecting a large crowd to the game.
