LINDISFARNE FOOTBALL CLUB NOTES – Round 5 review and Round 6 preview
Last week we travelled to New Norfolk, and while our squad has been under duress due to injuries across all lines, we went down with no excuses and to put our best foot forward, unfortunately we didn’t come away with the points, but the effort was there and the improvement across the entire playing group is noticeable
Today should be a good day with Brighton coming to ANZAC Park to play us, we hope for 2 solid matches and hopefully 8 points
SENIOR MATCH REPORT
When the game started, it was cold and windy, with the wind being worth a few goals, New Norfolk were kicking with the breeze and jumped away for a 25 point lead at half time
Frustratingly, the wind died for the rest of the match, so we were unable to kick with the wind in the second, and a tough arm wrestle of the midfields ensued, with both teams looking to transition the ball from defence to attack as quickly as possible to stop opposition numbers getting behind the ball. In a tough contest New Norfolk kicked an extra goal to pull away for a bit more of a lead going into half time
When the third quarter started both teams were impressive, attacking the ball hard, tackling even harder and generally setting a fantastic standard of football. This was again a very even quarter, but in a split points decision, New Norfolk again came away a bit better to again stretch there lead
The last quarter started the same as the previous 2 had finished off, with plenty of hard running and even more defensive pressure being applied. Then the unthinkable happened.
We got a free kick then a 50 meter penalty to take us to the Goal line, the goal was kicked and were duly awarded another shot, which was kicked, then again we were awarded another shot, again, this was kicked. As the players finally ran back to positions another free kick and 50 meter penalty was awarded with to another of our players which took him to the goal line, and yes, this time the goal was kicked, but as the players and umpires finally made it back to their starting positions for the next bounce and for the game to continue 4 goals had been kicked, to reduce the margin significantly
Both teams went hard to finish the game off but the Eagles held us of for another win.
We look forward to taking on Brighton this week and getting back in the winners column
UPCOMING EVENTS
We have Michael O’Loughlin (Former Sydney Swans forward) coming to play a one off game for us on the 1st of June at ANZAC Park. We are playing Dodges Ferry on the day and it is sure to be a fun and family friendly day. Come along and watch a former AFL star try to impose himself on the SFL
LINDISFARNE FOOTBALL CLUB NOTES – Round 3 review and Round 4 preview
This week we hope to build on a slow start to the season with 2 wins at home, we take the East Coast Bombers who have put together a few solid performances to start the season
We are looking to make ANZAC Park a fortress that no one looks forward to coming to due to our on field performances, so 2 wins today would start that very well
SENIOR MATCH REPORT
The Lindisfarne Nu-Jet Two Blues had a disappointing loss on the weekend to the Cygnet Power. Cygnet jumped our boys at the start and eventually ran out easy winners. Although under manned, the result was unsatisfactory and we look to bounce back this weekend when we face a tough game hosting the East Coast Bombers.
Congratulations must go to Adam Hutchinson who made his senior debut at the age of 16 last weekend. This is a fantastic reward for Adam who has progressed through the Lindisfarne Junior Football Club Program.

Blue and Blue Ball – 13th July @ Hotel Soho.
