Sorell Club Notes for Round 6

Three losses was the return from the trip to Claremont this week!

Sorell Seniors went down 20.17.137 to 10.8.68

After giving Claremont a 5 goal Quarter time start the Eagles clawed their way back to be less than 4 goals down early in the last quarter. But a Claremont 7 goal, 5 points to Sorell 2 point last term saw the Mont run away with an easy 69 point win!

Shannon Griffiths great first up game for the club and Jamie Iles very good 2 weeks in a row!

Best Players: B. Walker, M. Walsh, C. Howlett, R. Williamson, J. Iles, J. White

Sorell Colts

Defeated By Claremont 14.9.93 to 12.9.81

Colts also slow out of the blocks giving up a five goal first quarter to trail 32 to 1. But a consistent come back effort saw them only 3 pts down by three quarter time.. In an even last quarter Claremont out scores Sorell 3.4 to 2.1 to record a 2 goal win! Welcome return from Mark Johnson after illness!

Sorell Club Notes  Round 5

Three Great wins for the Sorell Football Club were achieved at Pembroke Park on the weekend.

The first time for quite a while certainly creates a great vibe around the Club., Harrys, Robbie and Micks wide grins were very prominent after the Games.

The evening finished off with a well supported and run DJ Function at the Club.

Colts defeated Brighton 11.7.73 to 1.7.13

A well deserved return to form after a disappointing couple of weeks for the team. Great effort after a  week off injured Billy Pace booted 5 Majors! Matty, Sam 2 each ,Jake and Jacko 1.

Best for Sorell, Riley, Chappy, Beven, Jez, Billy and Rhyno.

Reserves had a return to the winner list as the wind started to get up defeating Brighton 5.5.35 to 3.6.24. Scoring very hard to achieve as the play could not be moved from the southern wing!

Best for the Sorell Team were John Padman, Evo, Grego, Ando Crossin, Banger and Will.

Goals Paddles 2 goals including a snap to start the game that Cyril would be proud of!

One goal each to Evo, Weeman and Kurt.

Seniors First Home win for a while defeated a determined Brighton 8.10.58 to 6.5.41.

To say the conditions were horrendous is a major understatement.  I heard a few comments from supporters that have watched games in Sorell for over 50 years and have not witnessed wind that bad! The ball frequently blew backwards and when it went out normally on the town side wing it blew onto Arthur Street!

Goal kickers, Reimo 2, Fergy 2, Mauser , Jed, Jamie Iles and Boof  1 each.

Best on Jamie Iles played his Best Game for Sorell well done. Others to do well Jed, Mauser, Willo, Woodsy, and Macca.

Remember Club clothing is available along with tea for Supporters and players on Thursday nights.

This week we we travel to take on Claremont, see you there.

Sorell Club Notes  Round 4

Unfortunately for the Sorell Football Club we endured a weekend without a win. The journey to Boyer Oval came without success.

Colts were defeated by NN in a very entertaining game by 3 points 8.6.54 to 7.9.51. Two losses in a row is unchartered waters for this team so hopefully we can get things back on track next week!

Goals, Sam Russell  4, Bevan 2. Best were Raz, Chynoweth, Chappy, Bevan, Johnstone and Tom.

Reserves were soundly beaten by a more accountable New Norfolk  18.10.118 to 7.5.47.

Best for the Sorell Team were JD, Ando, Grego, Banger, Darcy and Toddy. Goals Walshy 3, Banger 2 , Darcy and M Padman 1 each.

Seniors were defeated by NN by 129 points. A very disappointing result in the second half after trailing by only 20 points at half time. Best were Jed, Spider, Dicky, Fergy ,Belg and Radar.

Goal kickers, Fergy 4, Macca 2,Boof 2 and Mauser  1. Plenty of work to do over 4 Quarters to get back close to these sides!

We have a DJ Night this Saturday following the Brighton game, lets all get along and celebrate three wins with an enjoyable function performed by the now famous DJ Flynn!

Keep your eye on the social calendar more to come including the old players day. For more information talk to Tony Lang!
